Winter has arrived in North Lake Tahoe! We closed October with a few storms that brought 5 inches of snow to the upper elevations of our local ski resorts. The second week of November promises additional storms, and most ski resorts will be opening prior to Thanksgiving Day.

Real estate sales have held steady in the region for the 3rd Quarter of 2024. On the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, 75 single family homes at a median sale price of $1,125,000. 82 homes sold on the West Shore at a median sale price of $1,147,500, and a whopping 378 homes sold in Truckee at a median sale price of $1,253,514.
North Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts

Northstar California Resort

Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows)
Palisades Tahoe is famous for its steep terrain, challenging chutes, and a rich Olympic history—it was the host site of the 1960 Winter Olympics as Squaw Valley. The resort combines two mountains, Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows, offering an extensive variety of runs over 6,000 skiable acres, making it one of the largest ski resorts in North America. Boreal is a smaller resort known for its convenience, affordability, and commitment to accessibility, especially for beginners and families. Located just off Interstate 80, it’s one of the most accessible resorts in Tahoe, with an easy drive from the Bay Area and Sacramento. Boreal is famous for its progressive terrain parks and night skiing, offering fun and challenging features for freestyle riders. As one of the first resorts to open each season and with a strong snowmaking system, Boreal is perfect for those looking to hit the slopes early or for a quick weekend getaway.

Sugar Bowl Resort

Close to Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl is easily accessible, but has a sense of seclusion and stunning views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe
Located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, Mt. Rose offers some of the highest base elevations in the region, which often results in lighter, drier snow and stunning panoramic views of both Lake Tahoe and the Reno area. It sits in between Incline Village and Reno off the Mount Rose Highway. Known for its advanced runs and "The Chutes" — steep, challenging terrain for experienced skiers — Mt. Rose is a favorite among locals. With a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and generally smaller crowds, it provides a well-rounded experience for all skill levels, with shorter lift lines and easy access from Reno. At the foot of Mount Rose in Reno, you will find excellent shopping and dining.
