North Lake Tahoe Snowfest 2026

Bring on the Snow!
Over the last several weeks, Lake Tahoe has experienced a dry period. This year, Snowfest will be kicking off after a few winter storms are forecast to pass through the region. Our first round of snow is scheduled for Valentine’s weekend, with more following toward the end of February.
North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST 2026 runs from February 26 through March 8, transforming the snowy landscape of the Tahoe region into a spirited celebration of winter, community, and fun. This annual festival spreads across towns like Tahoe City, Kings Beach, and Olympic Valley, offering a lively mix of outdoor activities, creative events, and social gatherings that appeal to locals and visitors alike.
Scheduled Events
The festival kicks off on February 26 with a community kickoff party, where music, food, and friendly faces set the tone for the days ahead. Early in the schedule, on February 27, a dazzling fireworks display lights up the night sky, followed by an afterparty where festivalgoers gather to celebrate the season together.
February 28 brings one of SNOWFEST’s signature experiences: the Tahoe City Street Faire. Instead of a traditional parade, this festive street celebration features colorful displays, live performances, and interactive entertainment that fill the heart of town with energy and creativity.
As the festival continues, March 1 features The Great Ski Race, a spirited cross-country skiing event that challenges participants and draws enthusiastic spectators. Later in the week, on March 7, the unique Snow Golf Tournament invites participants to navigate snowy fairways with golf clubs and plenty of laughter, adding a playful twist to winter sports.
SNOWFEST concludes on March 8 with the Snow Sculpture Contest, where teams sculpt imaginative creations from snow and compete for community acclaim. This artistic event serves as a lively finale, showcasing both talent and teamwork in a fun, friendly setting.
Fun for the Family
Throughout the ten days, additional activities – from themed parties and live music to family-oriented games and outdoor challenges – create a rich schedule that honors winter in all its forms. More than just a festival, SNOWFEST celebrates the unique spirit of the Tahoe community, bringing people together to enjoy the season while making lasting memories.
