North Tahoe Outdoor Summer Concert Series
By Tim Hauserman
It’s almost here. Time to get out there with friends and listen to music in the warm Tahoe summertime. There are plenty of places to enjoy the tunes this summer. On Thursdays, you can head to downtown Truckee for Truckee Thursdays and dance in the beer garden. On Friday and Sunday nights, the shore of the lake is the place to be. Kings Beach on Friday and Tahoe City on Sunday. But if you are ready to step it up a bit, and spend some money, three major music events are being presented as the North Tahoe Parks Outdoor Summer Concert Series at the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista. Here’s the scoop:
July 17: Slightly Stoopid, NoFX, Stephen Marley (Bob’s off-spring), and Fishbone. Slightly Stoopid has a large fan base and usually sells out concerts throughout the country.
Tickets are $42. Doors open at 4 pm.
July 19: Bass Camp Festival. This twelve hour event from 11 am to 11 pm features a star line up of DJ’s spinning great dancing music all day long, and bringing out the laser light shows at night. Tickets $40.
August 13: Rebelution, Iration, The Green, Stick Figure and DJ Mackle. Rebelution is the headliner, as part of their nationwide Count me In Summer Tour. Tickets $32.50. Doors open at 4:30.
These concerts are expected to attract between 6000-7500 people to the North Tahoe Regional Park (at the end of National Avenue in Tahoe Vista) so plan accordingly. Parking will be extremely limited, and shuttles will be running from various places around the lake. For more information or to purchase tickets go to www.northtahoeparks.com.
But wait there is another upcoming event at the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista. The Sierra Tahoe series competition of the Professional Disc Golf Association…or Frisbee golf for some of you. This will occur on June 29th. Come up to the park to watch some of the most amazing disc tossers around. For more information check out this link:
