Tahoe City Oktoberfest: September 20, 2025

As summer fades into crisp mountain air and the first golden leaves shimmer around Lake Tahoe, the community of Tahoe City is gearing up for one of its most beloved traditions – the annual Oktoberfest. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, from noon to 5 p.m., locals and visitors alike will gather at William B. Layton State Park to celebrate Bavarian culture with a lakeside twist.
Now in its 19th year, Tahoe City Oktoberfest has grown into a staple of the fall season. Set against the backdrop of Lake Tahoe’s sparkling blue waters, the festival offers something for everyone – whether you’re raising a stein, shopping for artisan goods, or enjoying family-friendly fun.
Lively Events
Guests can sip craft beer and cider from local and regional breweries, paired with traditional German bites like bratwurst and pretzels. The lively sounds of Alpine Sound, a German band traveling from San Francisco, will keep the crowd moving, while quirky competitions like the Stein Squat, Beer Barrel Roll, and costume contest bring plenty of laughter to the day.
Families will find plenty to enjoy as well. A kids’ zone will be stocked with activities such as pumpkin painting, balloon twisting, crafts, and face painting, making the event a true community celebration for all ages. For those who like to start the day on the move, the Lederhosen 5K fun run offers a playful way to kick off the festivities – bonus points if you run in costume.
Vendor Village
The festival also includes a vendor village and fall market featuring handmade goods, perfect for anyone looking to take home a unique keepsake from the day. Entry to Oktoberfest is free, with beer garden tickets available for purchase that include a commemorative glass and drink tokens.
Tahoe City Oktoberfest is more than just an afternoon of food and fun – it’s a celebration of community spirit and mountain life as autumn arrives. Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, this event offers the perfect chance to say “Prost!” with friends new and old, all while taking in one of the most stunning settings in the Sierra.
